Good News
The Good News of the Bible is found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to live a life we never could so that we might live eternally where we never could. Each of us sin against God and fall short of His standard (Romans 3:23) and deserve the just judgment of God – separation from Him for eternity (Romans 6:23). God loved each of us in spite of our sin and sent His Son to save us from that sin (John 3:16).
Jesus never sinned, but willingly paid our sin debt when He died on the cross of Calvary (Romans 5:8; II Corinthians 5:21). He was buried and rose from the dead three days later proving that He is God and capable of saving us from the penalty of sin. Now, He offers each of us the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23). You cannot earn it or purchase it; but, you can receive it. You do not deserve eternal life, but God in His love provided it for you, and He is offering it fully and freely. You can receive His gift today.
Maybe you are wondering “How can I receive this gift of salvation?” The answer is found in the Bible. Jesus said “Repent and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). To repent is to change your mind concerning sin. You must have a godly sorrow for your sin that results in a willingness to turn from it. To believe, is the idea of placing your faith and trust in someone or something. You must place your trust in Jesus Christ and believe the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus expressed His love for you by paying your sin debt through His death on the cross, was buried, and lives again to save you (I Corinthians 15:1-4).
If you will acknowledge you are a sinner before God, believe that Jesus died and rose again to save you, and ask Him to save you, you can experience this gift of the new birth. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Will you accept His gift of eternal life? Will you place your faith in Jesus Christ. Our desire and prayer for you is that you will. The only hope for this world and our broken lives is found in Jesus.
